The first weekend is over and done with, and my body is sore in places that it has not been for a long time, but then again that is what happens when one has not played soccer for quite some time. Still, this past weekend was a great opportunity to learn new things about coaching and bring these things to practices.
Also it was an opportunity to meet other coaches and learn from them, except for one or two, who think they are God's gift to coaching, but still learning from them. In their case, learning that I don't know everything there is to know in soccer, learning something new everyday. Still one more weekend, and hopefully that will go well for me and that the result at the end of this course will be a positive one and if not then at least I will have learnt something new.
Kind of funny, when you don't do a course like this, you never bother to use the internet (Google is your friend..:)) to search for material on drills that could help your team. Today, I found some useful drills that could be applied to the team that I am currently coaching, which is West Michigan Panthers Boys U14. I am the assistant coach, so I will be able to bring these drills to practices with the head coach. Lots of good material out there, and something I will pass onto the rest of the coaches within the club.
I know this may sound weird considering the state I live in, but we had no snow today...hehehe. Talk to you again soon, bye for now.
