Monday was a case of visiting Wal Mart out in Alpine, for those of you take places like Wal Mart for granted, in Ireland we really don't have a lot of places like it. So for my Mum and Dad it was a big thing and they had lots of fun in there. After Wal Mart we went to one of the few Bennigans left in the USA, and they had fish and chips and then we headed on to Gerald Ford Musuem.
In terms of US presidents he may not have not lasted very long, but everytime I read something about him, I think he was a great president and did a very good job in times when people had lost trust with the presidency. Probably paid for a longer term with some of the things he did in that time, but that is life.
Tuesday we headed up to Mackinc Island and stayed in Budget Host hotel in St. Eignac. If you are ever in this part of the country, I highly recommend that you stay in this hotel and area, and check out the Village Inn. Great place to stay and great food at the Village Inn. :). No drive would be completed without a visit to Wal Mart, and we visited two, one in Big Rapids for Subway and the other was in Gaylord. I now know that exit 282 on I75 is Wal Mart and also Wendy's on the way back. :)
Wednesday was a short drive to visit the deer farm that Bre loves going to, because she can feed the deer and it really is a cool place to go to. Then it was off to the Mystery Spot, we have gone to this enough times, but for Bre it was a case of getting some rocks (who kept her amused on our trip home that night). Didn't do the tour of the spot this time round, as we were on a tight schedule set by my wife...hehehe. Our ferry ride was at 10:30am, and we just made it back to it, and arrived on the Island.
Went to see Peggy who is a teacher friend of Jenny's and who is from the Island. They have a lovely store up there called Birches, should check it out sometime when you are there, lovely people and a lovely store. Did the tour of the Island, first guide was great (Austin), second guide hmmmm....jury is still out, but overall Mum and Dad enjoyed the tour. Had food at the Village Inn on the island, which was owned by Peggy's uncle and like on the mainland the food was great. :)
Did some more tourist shopping, and then headed back to catch the 5:30 ferry, which was really the 6pm ferry....hehehe. Got our departure times from the Island and to the Island mixed up, who cares, we had lovely weather the whole time and the trip back to the mainland was fun for everyone. And then the trip home was a just a long car ride home to see Josh and nana who by the way was able to come down and look after baby Josh for us. He is way too small for a trip like this, so we really appreciate Nana for coming down and taking care of him for us.
Thursday....a trip to Wal Mart....hehehee.
Friday....well had bit of shocker this morning, that is why I am writing this at this time of the morning, thought their flight was this morning and it is not till Saturday. I know I know, why not ask Mum and Dad when they are leaving. Still according to the Shannon airport site, there is a flight departing tomorrow and will arrive on the Sunday....I am wide awake now, so will be interesting to see what we do today and all that fun stuff. May be a trip to Wal Mart is on the cards....hehehe.
That is all for now. :)
