I have being doing web development for the last ten years, and I have seen a lot of changes during that time, but it always come down to one thing. And that is to build sites that works in all browsers (especially IE 6), and it doesn't really matter what technology you use for this. Whether it is using JQuery or not, or using asp.net or php, or Sql server or MySql....as long the site is a good design and easy to use for the end user, then that is all that counts.
I have seen a lot of blog entries on social media tools like Facebook and Twitter, I won't like to you, I don't have a facebook account and nor do I have a twitter account either. It is not that I don't want to be social or anything like that, it is just that I really don't have time for these tools. I know a lot of companies are trying to use these tools to enhance their social media profile, and some of these tools do help companies and others don't. Really comes down to what your strategy is for the tools and how you implement them.
At the end of the day, web development is fun for me right now, lots of things to learn and as i always say I learn some new every day. :)
