I saw an article on the bbc web site where Ireland was requesting a place in the world cup 2010, I know that we were hard done by the decisions that went against us, especially the fact that it was a handball. However, that is football and you really can't expect FIFA to give them an extra spot at the world cup, was a silly thing to request and made the FAI look silly in front of the world of Football.

On the flip side FIFA is just as bad, in all fairness the right thing to do would have to been to step in and replay the game, after all they are FIFA and they make the rules. In the fairness of fair play that they go on about so much, that is the course they should have did, but didn't. However, from what I have read about Ireland's request for an extra spot at the world cup, it was suppose to be a private thing and not something to discussed in the open.

Sepp Blatter really should keep his mouth shut, he keeps going on about how he played soccer, and from what I have read it looks like it was a sunday league team. No offence to Sunday League teams, I played on one for many years and had lots of fun. However, that is not really experience compared to the professional leagues of the world, he may be a good politician for football, but don't claim to understand how players feel about being knocked out of the world cup by hand ball of Henry.

In all fairness to Henry, he did nothing wrong, no matter what players will say in the media. Everyone has done it or did something that they expected to get caught at, but didn't and I can almost gurantee they didn't own up to it.

Oh well, enough venting at FIFA and FAI, just made me laugh when I read it yesterday. :)
